Hi,
bin noch neu hier... Ich komme lieber gleich zur sache:
habe Debian 3.0r1 installiert und eine Radeon 9700 (ist sicher wichtig zu wissen).
Nun wenn ich startx befehle kommt folgender Error.

Lädt der vielleicht den falschen Treiber?
Soweit ich das hier lesen kann, findet er nämlich keine Grafikkarte, und somit auch keinen Monitor.

Ich bin relativ neu bei Debian linux und weis desshalb nicht ob ich die richtige Grafikkarte eingestellt habe... Wo mach ich das (Ausser bei der Installation) ?
Ich könnte schwören dass ich als Chip den "ati" ausgewählt habe. Und ich hab ja ne ATi Radeon 9700...

bei xf86config frägt es mich wieviel RAM meine Karte hat.. Da sind aber nur aufgelistet

Hier habe ich jedes mal 1024 ausgewählt - hat es vl. was damit zu tun ?

bei der frage nach dem ram gibt es den letzten punkt (oder wars der erste) bei dem kannst du den ram selber eingeben. und beim chip halt ati oder sowas wie du ja schon gesagt hast.

hast du agp-support im kernel?

Hast du den 2.4.18 Kernel bei der Installation ausgewählt?? Ist für neuere Hardware dann doch eher geeignet...

Ansonsten such mal bei google nach dem Kernel HowTo
 
Also wenns sicher nur am Kernel liegt wird das wohl nicht alzu schwer...
Bevor ich jetz aber den installiere wie sehe ich bei einem schon installierten System welchen Kernel ich grade habe ?
Ich boote übrigens immer von Floppy da er einige Probleme mit
dem MBR hat. Aber beim login versucht er schon xserver zu sarten.

So hi,
ich hab mir bei ATi die Driver runtergeladen aber habe jetzt das Problem dass
ich die net installieren kann.
Eines ist ein *.deb -file aber mit "dpkg -i <Filename>" funzt es net.
Kann mir da jeman helfen ?
